Blake Godkin is an education futurist, professional facilitator and creativity expert working closely with education institutions to create and manage new ideas in order to bring about future-focused organizational transformation. His current clients include both small and large community school districts. Before moving into consulting, Blake served as a lead education planner for one of the world’s largest education planning and design firms, facilitating projects totaling approximately 200 million dollars. His work ranged from planning large high schools in North Texas to the development of the Educational Technology Design Standards for all 400 schools in United Arab Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Prior to his work in the private sector, Blake served in many areas of academia including a faculty position with the Department of Architecture at Texas A&M University, teaching courses in design process, creativity, invention, and futures studies. While at Texas A&M, Blake was also responsible for shepherding the development of the University’s first “Create Your Own Degree Program” allowing students to focus in field of study that have yet to be explored. Blake’s ongoing research focuses on the future of education, tools for enhancing creative thinking, and developing urban planning methodologies focused on learning.
